Our lead program has completed multiple Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials.  We launched our Phase 2b clinical trial in Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) in 2023 and our Phase 2 clinical trial in cardiovascular disease in Q2 2024. General Responsibilities:

Tourmaline is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Manager, Accounting to join our growing Finance Team. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role works to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the financial records and reporting for our organization. Primary responsibilities include preparation and review of monthly accounting close deliverables, ownership of technical accounting and SEC reporting, and oversight of the financial aspects of Tourmaline’s Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program.


  • Prepare and review month-end and quarter-end reconciliations as part of the overall accounting close process, including supervision and review of work performed by the Senior Accountant
  • Work with stakeholders in R&D to prepare clinical trial and manufacturing accruals in collaboration with the Assistant Controller
  • Prepare technical accounting assessments for non-routine transactions, including performance of accounting research
  • Perform a subset of SOX controls, maintain SOX evidence and serve as primary point of contact with 3rd party SOX testing providers and external auditors
  • Prepare SEC filings in collaboration with the Assistant Controller and Tourmaline Legal
  • Prepare quarterly review and annual audit support and interact with external auditors
  • Work cross-functionally with all department heads
  • Lead and support other ad hoc projects and reporting requests, as needed

Education and Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, additional post-graduate degree in accounting or finance is highly preferred
  • Active CPA license required

Experience and Attributes:

  • A minimum of 5 years in roles of increasing responsibility, including public accounting experience at either a Big 4 or large regional audit firm
  • Experience with pre-commercial life sciences companies strongly preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and experience with technical accounting research
  • Motivated and reliable self-starter with a strong work ethic
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail, including ability to meet deadlines
  • Comfort collaborating in remote team environment; does not view self solely as individual contributor
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Comfort partnering with individuals outside of G&A and a desire to learn the business
  • Familiarity with an accounting ERP (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle Fusion, etc.) is preferred
  • Base Salary Range:

$146,000 – $175,000 based on candidate professional experience level.
